How Do I Join the Band?

Percussion player in Tri-County New Horizons Band

Tri-County New Horizons Band has no age limits, except that members must be adults.

Contact one of our directors, either by phone or email. We will set up a time to meet and try various instruments. Once you decide which instrument appeals to you the most, we will show you how to obtain a rental instrument. Renting is preferable to purchasing in the beginning, because it gives you the flexibility to change your mind and try a different instrument.

If you have an instrument you played in high school or college, and you want to continue, you will be amazed at how much you remember.

Anyone who has the desire can learn to play an instrument

Our band and the hundreds of New Horizons Band groups across the U.S. and abroad, are full of people who doubted whether they could ever learn to play an instrument. Yet they are all doing it, and having the time of their lives.

Some of the best things about it are the lack of pressure, the humor, the support from fellow members, the "family" that grows within a group.

Performing

Play your tuba in a band

Occasionally, when we feel ready, we go out and play short concerts. Performance are usually for club meetings, at nursing homes, a local Farmers Market, and other venues. This community service adds a little variety and excitement to our routine.
