The New Horizons Concept

No matter where you travel in the U.S., Canada and even Europe, you can find a New Horizons Band, Orchestra, Jazz ensemble, small ensemble or Choir to join or visit while you’re in the area. Each club has its own special way of operating, but they all have many things in common. Learn more by visiting the New Horizons International Music Association’s website.

First, Choose an Instrument

Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba, Percussion. What appeals to you?

Players may already own an instrument and know what they want to play. If not, we can help you try a variety of instruments to find the one most suitable for you. Rental instruments are available from area music stores.

Next, Lessons

We offer like-instrument group lessons to everyone on a weekly basis. Lessons are scheduled for before and after the full band rehearsals.

Anyone who would like more intensive, private instruction may arrange that with one of the instructors or find a lesson teacher outside of the program.

All Together, Now...Rehearsals

The band currently has about 32 members, and rehearses together at 1:30 on Mondays for 1 1/2 hours, with rotating lesson groups meeting for 30 minutes prior to rehearsal.

We take a 6-week winter hiatus.

When and Where Do We Meet?

In warmer weather, we  meet outdoors in a park pavilion, with church space as backup for inclement weather.

From September to May, we meet at a church in Saukville, WI. Contact us for more info.

We meet from 1:00-2:30 on Monday afternoons, but sometimes we are out doing a performance – so email us at info @ tc-newhorizonsband dot org for the current schedule.

And Sharing With Friends

When the band has practiced enough, we go out into the world and share the music.

Residents of senior care homes love our music and are always so happy to have us visit.
